Honiton lace cap and lappets

Cap-and-lappet sets were very popular from about 1840 to about 1870. They also were known as a coiffure or fanchon.

The whole set is about 100 inches from end to end. Cap section is about 8 1/4 inches front to back, and about 10 to 12 inches to the beginning of the hanging lappets.

Cap section includes a beautifully formed traditional sprig of English roses. Rose leaves have raised edges, a traditional leaf-with-taps technique.

Lappets are extremely long -- about 18 inches. Condition is excellent.
